how to take on college studying part 2

How to Take on College Studying

Part 2
Choose Where to Study

Where you should study depends on two factors: the environment in which you are best able to concentrate and the type of work you are planning to do.

· The best places to study have good light, a comfortable temperature and enough desk place-- usually your dorm room, your apartment or the library.

· For completing problem sets or brainstorming possible test questions, you may want to study with a group or at least in a setting where fellow students are available for discussion.

· When you are reading book chapters or working on a research paper, you are probably better off in a less social environment
Improve Your Study Habits

Here are simple steps you can take to help you get a handle on studying:

· Have a routine for where and when you study.

· Choose reasonable and specific goals that you can accomplish for each study session.
· Do things that are harder or require more intense thoughts at your most productive time of day.

· Take breaks if you need them so you don’t waste time looking at material but not absorbing it.

· Get to know students whom you respect and can study with or contact to ask questions.

· Keep up with the workload and seek help when you need it.

7 habits of highly successful teens 2

7 habits of highly successful teens
habit 2

habit 2: begin with the end in mind
if teens arent clear about where they want to end up in life, about their values, goals, and what they stand for, they will wander, waste time, and be tossed to and fro by the opinions for others. help your teen create a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and direct and guide his decision-making process.

"keep your eyes on the prize." determine your desired prize and dont quit until you have realized the achievement of your prize. then set another prize, another goal or desire that you would really like to achieve. begin with the achievement of your prize in mind; know where you are going.

one prize or goal you definitely need to establish for yourself is the prize of an honorable graduation from high school- that you will receive your diploma honestlyand with integrity- that you earned it with perfect honesty.

successful students 9

9. dont cram for exams. successful students know that divided periods of study are more effective than cram sessions, and they practice it.
if ther is one thing that study skills specialist agree on, it is that distributed study is better than massed, late night, last ditch efforts known as cramming. you'll learn more, rememeber more, and earn a higher grade by studying in four, one hour-a-night sessions for friday's exam than studying for hours straight on thursday night. short, concentrated preparatory efforts are more efficient and rewarding thanwasteful, innattentive, last moment marathons. yet, so many students fail to learn this lesson and end up repeating it over and over again until it becomes a wasteful habit. not too clever, huh?

when you cram, you are taking the shortcut, and shortcuts never produce any real worth while results. also, whe you take shortcuts, you feel rather rotten knowing that you could have done better dut didnt. shortcuts cut you short. you cant plant watermelon seeds and harvest fresh watermelons the next day. it takes plus cramming for atest or project doesnt help you academicall, so whey even do it. plan ahead, prepare ahead. give yourself plenty of days and weeks to prpares for upcoming accountability oppotunities.

"what's right isn't always popular. what's popular isn't always right."
howard cosell

reflection: influence to make popular that which is sound and good to make popular which unsound and not good. ( this a quote)
an example is the kid that said a bad word because kids in his school said it too. he got his mouth washed out of soap.

study for multiple exams part 3

study for multiple exams
part 3

english, math, foreign language tips: practice--especially foreign language. it is hard to succeed in a foreign language class if you are learning it actually helps. or if you send a simple text to a friend think about it, can you translate that to german or spanish? these are the little things that will help.
here are my final words of wisdoms for students who want to get better grades in college: time management and organization are critical key factors to success in college. and never be afreaid to go ask your teacher for help. they have office hours for reason-use them!
